The head of a private statewide healthcare system has been appointed to the Winthrop University Board of Trustees.

Winthrop graduate Scott Middleton is the founder and president of Columbia-based Agape Senior and will fill the remaining four years of outgoing trustee James Williamson’s Term.

Williamson resigned from the board after accepting a position leading South Carolina’s Technical College System.

“I am very pleased that Scott Middleton has agreed to serve as a member of the Winthrop Board of Trustees,” said Winthrop President Jamie Comstock. “Scott has been a loyal Winthrop alumnus over the years and is the past recipient of the Alumni Professional Achievement Award in recognition of his career accomplishments.
