The York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of an ATM from a Clover convenience market that was later found on the other side of the state border.

A sheriff’s office report says it appears a vehicle crashed into the Lake Wylie Mini Mart on Highway 274.

An ATM that was bolted to the floor was taken, and later found empty on the roadway in Gastonia.

The owner of the minimart told a deputy that the ATM was worth $2,000, and that $6,000 had been stored inside it.

Damage to the property is estimated at $3,000.
