Obougou Earns NSCAA All-Region Honors

ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop’s Achille Obougou has been named to the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men’s All-South Atlantic Region 3rd Team.

Obougou tied for the team lead with 23 points as he scored a team-high 10 goals and had three assists. The senior forward scored two game-winning goals and had the first goal of the game four times. His 1.28 points per game average ranked fourth in the Big South and 33rd nationally. He was also fourth in the league in goals per game and 24th nationally.

This is the first Winthrop player to be named to an NSCAA All-Region team since Matthew Skonicki and Stephen Nsereko made it in 2009.

On Nov. 27, 2013 Obougou was named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Men’s Soccer Third Team. It was the third straight season Winthrop had a player named to the team.
