ROCK HILL, SC—In his first year with the Winthrop men’s soccer team, freshman Max Hasenstab has earned a handful of honors and was selected 28th among TopDrawerSoccer.com’s final Top 100 Freshmen of 2013.
Hasenstab was tabbed the Big South Conference Freshman of the Year after tying for the team lead in points with nine goals and five assists and was also named All-Big South Second Team. On Dec. 23 he was named to the College Soccer News All-Freshman Third Team. Hasenstab tied with Achille Obougou as the team’s leading scorer for an Eagle squad that finished 5th nationally in scoring.
During the regular season Hasenstab was named the Big South Conference Attacking Player of the Week and to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s National Team of the Week. He was also named All-Big South and Freshman of the Year by College Sports Madness. He earned Big South/SoCON and Mercer Bears Classic All-Tournament Team honors at the beginning of the season.
In early October, TopDrawerSoccer.com released its Top 100 freshman and Hasenstab was ranked 11th.
