An autopsy conducted on a Rock Hill boy who drowned in a pond in Sumter shows no sign of a suspicious death.

The Sumter Item reports Byron Barr died from an accidental drowning in a pond approximately 200 yards from his grandparents’ home off Buckingham Blvd.

The boy’s parents were in Rock Hill at the time and a coroner’s report estimates Barr was in the water for 20-30 minutes before rescuers discovered his body.

Interviews with adults who were supervising the toddler will continue this week, but the coroner’s report shows there were “no signs” of a struggle, evidence of foul play or any kind of trauma.
