Russell Hubbs stood before his family and teammates, whom he also called family, and told them all that he will be playing college football for the Citadel. Hubbs made the decision after Northwestern’s pre-thanksgiving practice at District Three Stadium as the team prepares for their 3rd round match-up against North Augusta. Hubbs chose the Citadel because of the coaching staff and the opportunity to attend the military school. He has played middle linebacker for the Trojans and started for the last three seasons. He and his fellow seniors will play their last game at District Three Stadium Friday night. If the Trojans win, they advance to the AAAA Division II state title game for the 2nd straight year and 5 out of the last 6 seasons. You can hear the game on WRHI FM 94.3/AM 1340/WRHI.com/and 104.1 in-stadium.

Below are Hubbs’ announcement and comments from his position coach, defensive coordinator James Martin.
