ROCK HILL, SC- Krystyna Freda, Megan Pritts and Taylor Coleman have been named to the College Sports Madness 2013 Big South All- Conference Team. Freda earned a spot on the first team as well as the Offensive Player of the Year Award, while Pritts and Coleman both second team honors.
Freda, a junior from Somerset, NJ, finished the season the regular season with 17 goals and 4 assists. She leads the conference in goals, shots (102) and points (38). This season Freda broke the Big South record for career game winning goals (18) and is tied for the most single season game winning goals (7) in Big South history.
Sophomore Taylor Coleman finished second in goals for the Lady Eagles with six, and has the highest second highest shot percentage (.455), converting her five goals on just 11 shots. She nabbed a hat trick in this season’s 11-1 victory over Alabama A&M, and scored in crucial games including a goal in Winthrop’s 2-1 win over Davidson.
Megan Pritts, a senior from Middletown, MD has started all 18 regular season games at center defense for the Lady Eagles and has the most minutes this season of any Winthrop field player (1454). She has directed a Winthrop defense that has combined for a goals against average of 1.24 and five shutouts this year. Pritts came up big in Winthrop’s 2-1 victory over High Point, heading a ball off the line and securing the conference win.
