Though Fort Mill police say they have no report of any missing child, officers spent much of the day canvassing neighborhoods searching for answers on the whereabouts of a girl a man said he saw walking in Walter Elisha Park.
At 9:54 a.m. Friday, Fort Mill police Maj. Bryan Zachary said a citizen reported an unaccompanied child inside the park along S.C. 160.
The man said he was walking in the park and noticed she was wearing light clothing and was staying with her grandfather near Sidney Johnson Street.
The man, police say, offered his coat to the girl and left her with a woman and two boys as he walked to his car to call authorities. When the man returned, he said the woman, two boys and the young girl were nowhere to be found.
Zachary said officers searched the area looking for the girl, with no success. That’s when authorities initiated a reverse 9-1-1 call to nearby residents. As of 6 p.m. Friday, the search has yielded no results, Zachary said.
