More National Recognition For Men’s Soccer Freshman Max Hasenstab

Hasenstab was named to the National Team of the Week as well as being named Big South Conference Player of the Week by College Sports Madness. He’s also been mentioned Nate Sulat of in his Sept. 30 edition of MLS on Campus in which he was featured for his scoring barrage that has helped Winthrop start the season 7-0-1.

The first year player has burst onto the scene in recent weeks having scored a goal in each of the last four games and totaling five goals and four assists in that span as well. Last week he scored the game-winning goals in both games with a goal in the 89th minute at UNCG and the first two goals of the game in the 5-1 win at VMI. He currently leads the Eagles with six goals and five assists on the year.

Hasenstab, who is currently seventh nationally in scoring, was named the Big South Conference Attacking Player of the Week on Monday. He’s also the second Winthrop player to be named to the National Team of the Week as sophomore Magnus Thorsson was selected on Sept. 16.
