Freshman Zach Seabolt Fires 66; Eagle Men Are Third After Two Rounds of Pinetree Intercollegiate

KENNESAW, GA–Winthrop freshman Zach Seabolt fired a second round 66 on Monday to lead the Eagles into third place after 36 holes of the 2013 Pinetree Intercollegiate being played at the 7,106-yard Pinetree Country Club and hosted by Kennesaw State.

Behind the play of Seabolt and junior Taylor Dickson, coach Kevin Pendley’s squad shot 582 (300-282) and trails first place Akron by six shots and second place Kennesaw State by two shots heading into Tuesday morning’s final round. Winthrop’s second round of 6-under 282 was the lowest score turned in on Monday.

Seabolt’s 6-under round followed his opening round of 76 and the 142 total has him in second place, six shots behind tourney leader Ryan Harris of Akron. Seabolt (Raliegh, NC) had six birdies and no bogies in his collegiate-best round. Just one shot behind is junior Dickson (Gastonia, NC) who shot 143 (75-68) and is tied for third. Sophomore Nick Eberhardt (Fort Mill, SC) is tied for 11th place after shooting 146 (75-71). Rounding out the Winthrop performances were junior Sam Whitehead with 156 (74-82) that ties him for 50th place and senior Walt Todd at 159 (82-77) that puts him in a tie for 58th place.
