Voters in Rock Hill’s Ward 5 will be heading back to the polls in a few weeks for a runoff election following Tuesday’s three-way race for city council.

Neither candidate earned more than fifty percent of the vote — meaning the candidates with the most number of votes, Nikita Jackson and Ann Williamson-Morrison will face off again on October 29.

Jackson was the lead vote getter, with 150 votes of the total 428 cast, followed by Morrison with 138 votes and Moore with 135 votes.

Voter turnout was very light Tuesday, as only 5.8 percent of 7,631 eligible voters turned out to cast their ballots.
