A popular Charlotte-based bakery plans to expand its footprint across the metro with a new location on Rock Hill’s Main Street.

Amelie’s Bakery, known for its french pastries and baked goods, announced plans to expand to the former site of the Citizen’s Corner restaurant Tuesday on Facebook.

“Hey Rock Hill Am√©liesters,” the post published at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday reads, “Guess what! *big grin*.”

Amelie’s spokeswoman Lexi St. Laurent says the company plans to move “pretty quickly” with an opening date coming in the “next few months, if possible.”

“I’ve enjoyed making people’s jaws drop telling people of this rumor-turned-fact,” wrote Andy Stager, lead pastor at Hill City Church on the company’s Facebook post, “Welcome to Rock Hill.”

Citizen’s Corner opened on the former site of the First Citizen’s bank in 2011 and later closed, though the Vault, a bar downstairs, remains.
