BURLINGTON, IA–Winthrop sophomore Nick Eberhardt from Fort Mill, SC fired a 67 on the second day of the Golfweek Conference Challenge and trails the four other golfers by one shot heading into Tuesday’s final round of the 15-team tournament.

Eberhardt’s 5-under score was the lowest round turned in by any of the 75 golfers in the field, and gives him a 36-hole score of 2-under 142 (75-67) which ties him with three other players in the tightly grouped field. Only three shots separate the top 15 golfers on the par 72 Spirit Hollow Golf Course.

With Eberhardt leading to way, Winthrop moved up one spot in the team standings on Monday after firing a team score of 293 to tie LSU, Jacksonville State, and Central Arkansas. Oklahoma pulled away to a 13-shot lead as the Sooners shot 10-under 278 to overtake second place Houston.

Winthrop junior Taylor Dickson (Gastonia, NC), who entered the second round tied for third, dropped into a five-way tie for 11th place after he shot 73 to go along with his opening day 71.

Freshman Zach Seabolt (Raleigh, NC) is tied for 25th at 147 (73-74).
Sam Whitehead, a junior from England, is tied for 45th at 155 (76-79), while freshman Weston Bell is tied for 64th at 157 (77-80).
