$7,725 in sports apparel intercepted at York County pawn shop

Local and state authorities have busted a counterfeit sports memorabilia operation in York County.

On September 9, detectives in York County were contacted by the S.C. Secretary of State’s Office regarding a Rock hill business selling counterfeit clothing, York County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris said Tuesday.

After further review Faris said investigators discovered and sized 40 jerseys, six ball caps and 36 other clothing items from the Palmetto Pawn Shop at 4360 Old York Road.

The memorabilia were assorted counterfeit NFL and NBA jerseys and hats, as well as items branded with True Religion, Ed Hards and Versace labels.

The were worth a total value of $7,725, Faris said.

Charges are now pending on the store owner for Distribution of Counterfeit Trademark Goods.
