A head-on collision this afternoon in Lancaster County has sent three people to area hospitals.

Around 2:20 p.m. Friday, Lance Corporal Billy Elder of the S.C. Highway Patrol said two drivers were heading eastbound on S.C. 9 near Meeting St. That’s when a Ford Taurus coming from the opposite direction was driving on the wrong side of the road.

The Taurus struck a Ford SUV head-on and sideswiped a 1996 Chevrolet.

The drivers of the Taurus and SUV were airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center, Elder said.

The driver of the SUV was treated at Springs Memorial Hospital.
