This week, $2,000 worth of school supplies will make their way into the hands of hundreds of Rock Hill students.

“Operation Back-up” is organized through the Sheriff’s Foundation of York County.

In years past, school districts across York County stated the one school supply they lacked from other typical school supply drives were backpacks.

he Sheriff’s Foundation has purchased more than 450 backpacks to distribute among school districts.

“We as a Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff’s Foundation want to back up students and give them all the tools they need to succeed in the classroom,” York County Sheriff Bryant said. “If a new back pack is what a student needs to carry everything necessary for the classroom, then a backpack is what we’ll give them.”

An earlier version of this story included incorrect information regarding the backpack distribution. The Sheriff’s Foundation will be disseminating these backpacks to districts at their own discretion.
