On the same day where thousands of Apple iPads were rolled out to students in the Rock Hill School District, nearly a dozen were reported missing to police.

Police documents released Tuesday report the theft of 22 iPad tablets from the Children’s School at Sylvia Circle.

The School’s principal, Jacqueline Jones, told police a faculty member first noticed them missing on August 14 but did not report the missing devices to her until August 22.

Jones said the devices were kept in a rolling lockable media cabinet. The report did not detail whether the media cabinet itself was missing.

Police were called to the school August 26 to investigate the incident.

In total, 22 iPads worth $10,978 were reported stolen. Each device was fitted with a hard lime green case.

19 white iPad chargers were also reported missing.

The incident remains under investigation.
