Eight Rock Hill  residents are among nearly 20 people facing charges in the largest gun bust in New York City history.

New York Police Department Commissioner Ray Kelly says 254 guns were seized from a scheme involving weapons from both North and South Carolina.

Eric Campbell is accused of stashing some of those firearms into luggage and boarding discount buses headed to New York City’s Chinatown.

Military-style assault weapons were part of the seizure.

Walter Walker of Sanford, N.C., is facing similar charges.

Also charged are Larick Michaux, Warquisha Michaux aka “Choppers”, Kendall Danielle Jones, Marcel Lydell Dyess, II, Arthur Antonio Barber aka “Barber”, Chris Hill and Brandon Rashad Potts, all of Rock Hill.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says year after year, illegal guns flow into the city from states that don’t have, “common sense” laws.

Rock Hill Police Chief Chris Watts said, “The Rock Hill Police Department is always willing to assist other Law Enforcement agencies investigating crimes that affect our communities. I would like to commend the New York Police Department and their Firearms Investigation Unit on this outstanding accomplishment.”
