A woman was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte Thursday afternoon following a wreck involving a scooter and a City of Rock Hill sanitation truck.

Dispatch data from the S.C. Highway Patrol said the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on Springsteen Road at Wyndale Road.

City of Rock Hill spokeswoman Katie Quinn said city Risk Management staff are on scene and the driver of the sanitation truck was not injured in the incident.

Lance Corporal Billy Elder said the driver of the moped, a female, was flown via helicopter to CMC for her injuries, details of which were not immediately available.

Elder said the incident itself remains under investigation.
