The largest amusement park across both Carolinas remains closed following a power outage Friday morning.

Park officials says a fallen tree knocked out power to the park just after 8 a.m. and Duke Energy crews worked on the lines through 2 p.m.

The delay, though, didn’t seem to faze parents wanting to take their kids to the park for the day, like Crystal Adkins of Rock Hill.

“We were on our way here and I have a Carowinds app on my phone, and it sent us a message, but we were already halfway here. We just came on and are going to hang out,” Adkins said.

Carowinds tweeted that when the park opens, tickets will be sold for the twilight price of $29.99, and the park will be staying open until 11 p.m.

Anyone with pre-purchased tickets for Friday will be allowed to use them another day, but the park is closed Sunday for a private event.
