After two years as chairman of the Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation, Andy Shene exits his post — while new chair Greg Rutherford says he’ll be filling some incredibly large shoes.
Thursday night, Rutherford took over as head of the city’s economic development group on the cusp of a number of projects set to get underway under his leadership.:
Rutherford is the president of York Technical College in Rock Hill.
Rutherford said his experience in higher education and workforce development will be a great asset to Rock Hill’s Knowledge Park and will include a heavy focus on bringing more jobs to the city’s downtown corridor.:
And since he first moved to Rock Hill nearly seven years ago, Rutherford said he has always believed there was great potential for the city’s downtown core.:
In the next two years, projects like 139 Main — a new apartment complex, the Old Town East office complex and the new Knowledge Park are set to start construction — and in some cases open for business.
