Exel Incorporated and Energizer Holdings broke ground Tuesday on a $38 million, 1 million square foot distribution center in York County.

Ed Hahn, senior director of business development for Exel, said his company has worked on the project with Energizer for 18 months — and he’s convinced this is where both companies want to be.

Jennifer Bojdak, Director of Energizer’s Global Warehousing and Distribution, said her company has grown exponentially in the last 13 years.

The new facility is set to open in April 2014 and will employ more than 130 workers.
