Graduating senior, Winthrop’s First Lady honored at Boys and Girls Clubs’ dinner
The Boys and Girls Clubs of York County Thursday honored two of their own – a graduating high school senior and the wife of a retiring university president.
Both were honored for very different reasons, but as Clubs Chief Professional Officer David Carriker says, in the case of eight-year board member Gale DiGiorgio, her passion for impacting childrens’ lives.

Alleyne graduates next week and plans to attend York Tech before joining the Air Force by way of the Citadel in Charleston.
Carriker says Alleyne has set the standard for his peers to live up to.

Since Carriker took over the Boys and Girls Clubs of York County a little over a year ago, rapid growth at the Clubs has led to the opening of an additional Teen Center in Rock Hill. The Clubs now serve over 500 children each year.
