York County may soon be just a few weeks away from sealing the deal on selling the soon-to-be-vacant Charlotte Knights stadium.
The Rock Hill Herald reporting late Friday county council will consider a proposal from the Cato Corporation to purchase the 32-acre site off I-77 for 844-thousand dollars.
York County Councilman Bump Roddey says the county’s development arm and Cato have been in talks for months — and he thinks the deal is a great fit.
The item will come up in Monday’s regularly scheduled council meeting. If given initial approval, the measure is subject to two additional readings and a public hearing.
As we’ve previously reported, Cato recently purchased 260 acres surrounding the site with plans to turn it into a mixed-use development resembling Ballantyne in Charlotte.
