A recruiter for the U.S. Army was attacked Monday night in the Galleria Mall parking lot.

Rock Hill Police say the recruiter, 25, was walking towards his truck just before midnight Monday when two black men appeared in the Sears parking lot.

The man told officers he first saw the men when he was approximately 200 yards from his truck.

One man was dressed in gray sweatpants and a long sleeve black shirt and buzzed hair. The other was wearing a black hoodie and camouflage shorts.

The man said the two stated he had a, “nice truck,” then instructing him give them his keys.

The man declined, and that’s when he said one of the men struck him in the eye with a blunt object, leaving several scrape marks to his eye.

The then returned the punch before the two assailants fled the scene.

A K-9 unit was called to the scene to search for the men. The search yielded no results.

WRHI is not naming the victim in this report. However, in an interview, the recruiter said he spent a total of two years overseas in Iraq and Fallujah in the Infantry. He has worked in the Rock Hill recruiter’s office for more than a year.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
