For the second time in the last week, police in Rock Hill shot and killed a pit bull.
Police say that just before 9 p.m Tuesday, an officer and another man were walking around the vacant Whitgreen Apartments on Greene Street conducting a property check.
That’s when two dogs approached them and started violently barking. When the second dog started charging towards the officer, he deployed his pepper spray.
Police say the pit bull again charged at the officer, and the officer shot the dog three times with his service pistol.
The officer shot the dog a fourth time moments later to end the its suffering.
Neighbors directed police to the dog’s owner, 38-year-old Beverly Moorer, who said the pit bull had broken off its chain behind her house.
Moorer was issued a ticket for having an Animal at Large.
Last Friday, an officer shot a pit bull on Williamson Street in Rock Hill after reports of it chasing after children and elderly people and attempting to bite an Animal Control officer.
