This time next year, hospital officials say work on a nearly $20 million expansion of Piedmont Medical Center’s Emergency Room will be underway.
Piedmont’s new Chief Operating Officer David Clay said Thursday the expansion plans not only add more space, but will change how doctors treat upwards of more than a thousand patients each week.
The hospital earned approval for the project from parent company Tenet Healthcare in February for the 21,000 square foot addition.
Clay said the expansion also includes plans to locate the hospital’s lab closer to the ER and several triage rooms for employees to prioritize patients’ ailments.
