Ex-Winthrop basketball coach leads Wichita to Final Four in Atlanta
Former Winthrop University men’s basketball coach Gregg Marshall is living a dream by taking Wichita State to the NCAA Final Four in Atlanta this weekend.
However, his Shockers have a tough test ahead of them in top-ranked Louisville Saturday night.
Marshall’s team is a more than ten point underdog against the Cardinals but he tells ESPN Radio that Wichita State has played its best basketball when the team it is playing is favored.
Marshall said he knows his team needs to play well — and has done so.
Marshall left Winthrop for Wichita State in 2007 after leading the Eagles to a first-round NCAA upset over Notre Dame.
