rock-hill-downtown-modifiedTo say there’s a lot going on in Old Town Rock Hill would probably be an understatement.

Thursday, Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols and the rest of the city council heard updates on about a half-dozen different projects taking place in the area.

The apartment complex and retail center that will be built at 139 East Main after the old Woolworth building is demolished is expected to get underway during the second or third quarter of 2014.

Echols says it’s hard to hold back enthusiasm for that project.

Meanwhile, ground will be broken for the Old Town East office complex this summer.  The Old Town Market is scheduled to open May 9th and plans are almost finalized towards a street scape project along Oakland Avenue from White Street to Black Street.
