A company that just a month ago relocated its Charlotte headquarters to Fort Mill credits the decision to move to South Carolina with opening new opportunities for business.

Britax makes high-end car seats for infants and children, and moved to a new state-of-the-art facility off Pleasant Road in March.

Britax CEO John Chamberlain said the new facility houses all aspects of the business.

York County Council Chairman Britt Blackwell said the midsize company’s move to York County from Charlotte this year is another sign the economy in South Carolina is on the rebound.

Last summer, Britax announced plans to relocate to a brand new facility in Fort Mill, bringing 240 jobs across the border.

Blackwell says its companies like Britax that are a great asset to York County.

Britax’s new facility houses product development, assembly, warehousing and corporate office operations for the company in a 470-thousand square foot facility.

The S.C. Department of Commerce estimates Britax’s investment in South Carolina tops $26 million.
