The City of Rock Hill Monday was recognized as one of 90 of more than 2,000 public power utilities named as Reliable Public Power Providers by the American Public Power Association.
The Reliable Public Power designation recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.
Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity.
“RP3 utilities are shining examples of reliable and forward-thinking public power utilities,” said McKinney, “These 90 designees should be extremely proud of this accomplishment and what it means for their communities.”
“Receiving the RP3 designation means a lot to us,” said Scott Motsinger, City of Rock Hill Utilities Director. “It’s an honor to be recognized on a national level for the work we are doing here locally in Rock Hill.”
This is the eighth year that RP3 recognition has been offered. APPA is the national organization representing more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community and state-owned electric utilities.
The 90 honored utilities join another 94 utilities that earned the designation in 2012
