There’s good news on the unemployment front for the tri-county area with today’s release of February’s jobless rates. York County’s rate fell from 12.5 percent to 11.9 percent last month. In Chester County the rate plunged from 14.6 percent to 13.6 percent in February. In Lancaster County the unemployment rate dropped from 12.4 percent to 11.6 percent. The statewide rate for South Carolina dipped from 8.7 percent in January to 8.6 percent in February. The Department of Employment and Workforce says 17,900 jobs were added in the Palmetto State last month.
