Funeral set for Friday for five-year-old Soren Chilson

A visitation was held Thursday night in Lancaster for the five-year-old girl who police say was murdered by her mother’s boyfriend this week.

Five-year-old Soren Chilson died early Tuesday morning at Springs Memorial Hospital, after what initial autopsy results say were several head wounds.

27-year-old Phillip Gleason, an Iraqi War veteran, is charged with her murder. The Rock Hill Herald reported Thursday Gleason was awarded the Purple Heart after he was injured following a tour of duty in Iraq.

Gleason is charged with homicide by child abuse. He was watching the girl while his girlfriend was at work. Gleason’s bond was denied Wednesday in a Lancaster County courtroom.

Chilson’s funeral is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church in Lancaster.
