According to ESPN, former South Pointe star Jadeveon Clowney has done the expected and insured himself against injury. The projected #1 overall pick in the NFL draft has taken out a 5 million dollar policy which would be paid out if he experienced a career ending injury during his junior season at South Carolina. This is the biggest possible policy that a college athlete can take out. Other big NFL names who have taken out policies include Tennessee’s Eric Berry (3 million in 2009) and South Carolina’s Marcus Lattimore (1 million last season). Clowney was named all-american and received the 2012 Ted Hendricks award as the country’s top defensive end.
