According to the Rock Hill Herald, Rock Hill High is set to formally hire David “Bubba” Pittman as offensive co-ordinator of the school’s football team. Pittman has spent the last 6 seasons as an assistant at Northwestern High. This news was first reported by WRHI last month after Northwestern head coach, Kyle Richardson, issued a press release congratulating Pittman and stating that Pittman would be offensive co-ordinator as well as “head coach in waiting” at Rock Hill High. According to Rock Hill School District spokesperson, Becky Partlow, the district does not have a coach-in-waiting position. Rock Hill High principal, Ozzie Ahl, also stated that it was not listed in the contract and is not a promise the school could make. Ahl did say, however that they had talked with Pittman about future opportunities and felt that he would be a candidate for the head coaching job if it opened. As for Rock Hill’s current head coach, Joe Montgomery, he said he plans to coach as long as he can and that he still enjoys coaching. According to Ahl, Pittman is expected to teach special education.
