Rock Hill’s newest downtown venue officially opened its doors Tuesday.
The Old Town Market Hall sits on what was not long ago a blighted property that had seen its better days as a general store, dry cleaners and youth center.
Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols says the project was a public-private partnership where the city enticed developer John Rinehart to invest in the property while the city funded street improvements.
Rinehart said the facility’s renovations came at a time when the city was willing to join in the effort.
The city invested just over a half-million dollars in street and parking lot improvements surrounding the market hall.
The 6,000 square-foot market hall shares space with Millstone Pizza, which is set to open its doors in the coming weeks.
The Market Hall will be the new home to the Rock Hill Farmer’s Market which reopens in May.
