The City of Rock Hill is looking at prioritizing nearly two dozen road improvement projects in city limits — including a flyover on Dave Lyle Blvd. at John Ross Parkway and upgrades to the I-77 Interchange at Celanese Road.
Mayor Doug Echols says while the projects are expensive, something needs to be done.

Echols said the I-77 flyover at Dave Lyle Boulevard would cost around $15 million.
Echols says during peak traffic periods, the intersections are turning into gridlock.

The proposed project at Celanese Road would create to additional right turn lanes off the Interstate. That project may come in a $450,000.
It’s not yet clear how the projects may be paid for, but Echols says Pennies for Progress and the Rock Hill Fort Mill Area Transportation Study could very well be adequate funding sources.
