Winthrop swept the Big South Conference weekly women’s basketball awards as Dequesha McClanahan has been named the Big South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and teammate Schaquilla Nunn was tabbed Freshman of the Week for games played Feb. 18-24, the League announced today.

McClanahan, a junior from Oak Ridge, Tenn., averaged 25.0 points per game and shot 44 percent from the floor to lead the Eagles to a pair of Big South wins last week.  She got her week started with 28 points on 45 percent shooting, to go along with eight boards, three assists and a steal in Winthrop’s win over Longwood on Feb. 21.

Two days later against Radford, the guard notched 22 points and finished the game with six assists, four rebounds and three steals.  The honor marks her second Big South Player of the Week selection this season.

Nunn, a center from Fayetteville, Ga., notched 14.0 points per game and pulled down 9.5 rebounds per game in Winthrop’s two wins last week.  Against Longwood, Nunn connected on 83 percent from the floor to finish with 11 points.  She also collected eight boards and came away with three blocks and two steals.

Nunn stayed hot from the floor in the contest with Radford as she poured in 17 points on 73 percent shooting.  In the paint, the center ripped down 11 rebounds and turned away six Highlander shots.  The award marks her fourth Big South Freshman of the Week award this season.
