Six people will make up the 2013 York County Sports Hall of Fame class. Ron Davis was a three-time tennis champion at Rock Hill High School. Davis was also a seven-time USTA singles champion and the top player at Winthrop University. Ivory Latta was a basketball star at York Comprehensive High School before playing at the University of North Carolina. Latta now plays in the WNBA. Marty Long was an all-state athlete in football and track at Northwestern High School and played football at the Citadel. He’s now the football coach at the University of Northern Illinois. Hugh Mauldin was an all-state athlete in football and track. Mauldin played in the Shrine Bowl and made the all-ACC team at Clemson. Jimmy MAC Wallace was an all-state athlete in football and track. As a football player. he led York High School to an undefeated season. Wallace also coached at York and Rock Hill High Schools and at Wofford College. Finally, Willie Ware is the tennis coach at Fort Mill High School. His teams have won five straight state championships and 15 regional titles. The York County Sports Hall of Fame will hold its induction ceremony May 14th at the Events at Manchester on Cinema Drive in Rock Hill.
