Winthrop University Thursday released the findings of a study outlining the potential impact of extending Dave Lyle Blvd. in Rock Hill to US-521 in Lancaster County.
Economist Laura Ullrich tells WRHI York County stands to benefit by 1.2 billion dollars over the next four decades — just with the road construction alone.
The study is based on the notion that shoppers are likely to choose the closest stores and restaurants within a 20-minute drive.
Ullrich told area leaders and lawmakers Thursday just the mere extension of the road could bring in a wealth of new spending that, now, is heading to the Tarheel State.
If the ten-mile extension to Dave Lyle Blvd. were built, the 20-minute radius of customers would top 50,000 people living in 17,000
