16th Circuit Solicitor Kevin Brackett says no personal information was compromised as a result of a hacking of his office’s website this weekend.
The York County Economic Development Board’s web site was also hacked, York County Manager Jim Baker says both sites were housed on servers that were in the process of being decommissioned.
Brackett says a hacking outfit out of the Middle East that claims to be from Iran was responsible for the hacking.
The computers at the Solicitor’s Office displayed a pop-up window with a black screen and a map of Iran emblazoned in the background. It displayed yellow words saying We Love Iran.
Brackett says he doesn’t think the hacking will happen again.
Brackett said the group that hacked the website may have done so to encourage the site’s owners to pay for costly consulting services to keep the site from being hacked again in the future. Baker said the server that hosted the sites only handled those two websites.
