First of Winthrop presidential finalists wraps up Rock Hill visit

The first of four finalists for Winthrop University’s next president is set to wrap up his visit to campus today.

Dr. Jeffrey Braden is the dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at N.C. State University in Raleigh and since Sunday has spent time visiting with the Board of Trustees, faculty and students at a number of sessions.

Braden is set to speak to reporters at 11:45 a.m.

Braden’s curriculum vitae includes tenure at the University of Florida, San Jose Sate University, the University of Wisconsin at Madison and N.C. State.

He currently oversees a faculty and staff of 575 and manages a $66 million budget.

Elizabeth Dale, vice president of advancement at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., is set to visit campus Jan. 30, Ulysses Hammond, vice president of administration at Connecticut College in New London, Conn., lands in Rock Hill on February 3. Jayne Marie Comstock, director of the Executive Leadership Group of the American Council on Education in Washington is set to visit Rock Hill on February 6.
