The first of four finalists for Winthrop University president wrapped up his visit to the school’s Rock Hill campus Tuesday.
Jeffrey Braden is the dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. and met with reporters Wednesday morning.
Braden says succeeding 24-year President Anthony DiGiorgio would make his job easier and harder at the same time.
On the long-rumored topic of Football on Winthrop’s campus, he says he would be cautious about adding the sport — but says he is open to the idea.
Braden, who manages a staff of more than 500 people and a $66 million dollar budget, says he as experience in leading faculty, staff and students in challenging times.
Elizabeth Dale, vice president of advancement at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., will become the second Winthrop presidential finalist to visit campus on Wednesday.
