The City of Rock Hill and Comporium Communications Tuesday announced the future kickoff of two construction projects that will soon be underway in the Old Town East section of Rock Hill’s downtown corridor.
Rock Hill-based Comporium Communications will invest $9 million for a 48,000 sq. ft. Class A professional office building that will also accommodate retail development.

The law firm of Morton and Gettys has already committed to move into the professional building.
Comporium President and Chief Executive Officer Bryant Barnes recalls speaking with Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols several years ago about developing the site.
There will also be a public park built on the municipal parking lot that’s on the site. Echols says Tuesday was about more than just an announcement of construction projects.
Echols says the city will use $5.5 million in Tax Increment Financing to build the public park sometime this summer. The projects in the Old Town East area of Rock Hill will anchor what city officials describe as the Knowledge Park.
Echols says that will provide jobs for 150 people.
