The City of Rock Hill’s Utilities Department says it has resolved a billing problem in which City Manager David Vehaun says an industrial customer was accidentally overcharged by an amount, “in [the] range,” of $800,000 over a period of several years.
Vehaun says the customer, whose name was not released according to city policy, is happy with how the city handled the over billing.
Vehaun says in his 25 years with the city, there have been five or six examples of this type of over billing.
Vehaun says the city had been billing the industrial customer twice what it should have been charged.
He says the problem has been corrected and that the unique industrial meters will be be checked more often.
