Rock Hill lawmaker pushing for in-depth physicals for high school athletes
Concerned with the health and safety for students taking part in high school sports, Rock Hill representative John King as pre-filed a bill in the S.C. House of Representatives requiring students undergo a more through physical exam.
King says the exam would include an electrocardiogram and test students for sickle cell anemia.

In 2010, 18-year-old Brian Covin died after he collapsed on he field during a preseason game at Lewisville High School in Chester County.
King says he has filed a similar bill in the House before, but says he’s optimistic about the bill’s chances this coming legislative session.
