Red Cross steps in to help 18 displaced fire victims

Four days before Christmas, 18 people were displaced from their homes at a Rock Hill apartment complex.

Firefighters were called to the Yorktown Village apartments of Ebinport Road Friday afternoon, where eight units were fully engulfed in flames.

In the days since, the Red Cross has stepped in to help, taking donations Saturday afternoon to help the families.

Residents like Catherine Melo were overwhelmed with joy after seeing how the community came out to help..

City officials say the cause of that blaze is still under investigation.
