Tega Cay City Manager Dennis Pieper landed himself a new job Monday — just across Interstate 77. Just a few days after the Town of Fort Mill named Pieper as a possible candidate for the Town Manager’s position, Pieper agreed to the terms of a contract with Fort Mill that was approved by town council Monday night.
A start date has not been set.
“Our search for a new town manager enabled us to meet a variety of candidates with excellent credentials, but I am pleased that a proven professional and exceptional leader has accepted this role with the town. Dennis is a consummate professional and will bring a wealth of experience and new ideas to the Town of Fort Mill,” said Mayor Danny Funderburk.
Pieper comes to Fort Mill only a year in a similar position in Tega Cay. He came to York County after seven years as town administrator of Summerville, S.C.

Pieper has served the South Carolina Municipal Association on the legislative committee and as chairman of the SC Municipal Insurance Trust Board. Additionally, he has filled the role as a board member on the Trident Medical Center North Area Advisory Board, Alcoa Advisory Board and the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority.
Mr. Pieper is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina, where he received his undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in business administration. He has also received training in a variety of fields including law enforcement and emergency management.
