The ribbon was cut and the doors were open Thursday to the new Fort Mill History Museum in the town’s historic district on North White Street.
The museum had been at a temporary location on Main Street downtown.
To raise money for a permanent home, museum board chairman Rufus Sanders says a membership drive was held.
Sanders says the museum is now in the footprint of the town’s historic district.
Sanders says the Fort Mill History Museum has a timeline that takes visitors back 500 years.
Sanders says he hopes it’s one of the first stops people make when they drive into Fort Mill off Interstate 77.
