An early morning blaze at the McDonald’s on East Main Street in Rock Hill has destroyed the fast food restaurant.
Rock Hill Fire battalion Chief Rusty Myers said fire crews were called to the restaurant just after 3 a.m. Thursday. Five engine trucks and two ladder trucks were called to the scene, leaving East Main Street blocked until 8:45 a.m.
Friday’s fire took place at the last of the Rock Hill McDonald’s that were renovated.
Since 2009, McDonald’s restaurants on Cherry Road and Herlong Ave. have undergone complete renovations, while the Dave Lyle Blvd. restaurant was built in 2001.
The restaurant opened in December 1983. Store officials tell WRHI the fire is believed to have started in a HVAC unit on the roof.
Myers said there were no injuries in the blaze, but the building was a total loss.
